Help, ankle injury?

Ankle Injury
Last Sunday I injured my ankle at softball practice. I was playing third base and a throw from the outfield hit my ankle hard. I had to stop practicing, and it was difficult to walk. It has gotten better since but it is hurts some to walk and its a little difficult to run. Also when I woke up today, I noticed a large purple blister on my ankle. Should I play in my slow-pitch softball games tommorow (I’m an outfielder) and what should I do about my ankle?

You don’t want to hurt it more – so don’t play if it hurts to play still.

I would go to the doctor if I were you. The purple is obveously blood and since it’s new I would be concerned. It’s probably a bruise that needs time to heal. However, I would be concerned about a hemotoma (deep tissue bruise that will leave a hard knot) or signs or more serious damage. The MD can also give you some proper treatment options. It’s always better to know than not know.

…see your Doctor. You need to have that bruise checked…rest that ankle…and NO SOFTBALL! For goodness sakes! You may need to have it x-rayed…casted or wrapped…rest/elevate your leg…take anti-inflammatories…let it heal. You HURT it! Good luck! kjl

if it still hurts, then id say stay off it for another game.
then play in the next game you have.
just ice it and keep it elevated.
you should be fine within a few days.
if it continues to hurt, see a doctor.
