Is it better to tape or not tape an injuried ankle in phase of recovering?

Ankle
I play volleyball and I injured my ankle just walking. It got a little swelling but it didn’t bruise. I’m going to physical therapy and chiropractice. I’m confused if I should tape the ankle to avoid mobility or don’ tape and sort of move it to get it strong again….What’s best?

Tape is for support while healing. If it still hurts and you are not using crutches…or resting the injury then taping is advised.
Don’t circumferentialy tape it. Wrapping in circles around the ankle with out separations cuts off circulation and actually creates a tourniquet and impairs healing.
Instead, tape half around, then begin a new strip of tape 1/2 inch above the other one and then repeat. Use some tension but leave room for blood supply.
Best,

You didn’t specify what kind of tape, use an elastic sock or elastic bandage, it needs to be supported but also needs to move some. Soak two or three times a day in epsom salts and water, cup to a gallon as hot as you can stand, don’t burn.
