Tape is for support while healing. If it still hurts and you are not using crutches...or resting the injury then taping is advised.

Don't circumferentialy tape it. Wrapping in circles around the ankle with out separations cuts off circulation and actually creates a tourniquet and impairs healing.

Instead, tape half around, then begin a new strip of tape 1/2 inch above the other one and then repeat. Use some tension but leave room for blood supply.

Best,

You didn't specify what kind of tape, use an elastic sock or elastic bandage, it needs to be supported but also needs to move some. Soak two or three times a day in epsom salts and water, cup to a gallon as hot as you can stand, don't burn.
