Yesterday I had a lacrosse game and this girl fell in front of me causing me to move out of the way but making my right ankle twist inward. After that happened there was no swelling but some pain. Today I have some pain in the ankle but I have lacrosse practice tonight. I’m pretty sure this is a 1st degree ankle sprain but I’m not sure if I should go to the practice… It doesn’t seem serious although I don’t want to be running with pain the whole time. Should I go?

He tapped my ankle up after practice to see if it could support my ankle when I walk. It was to painful for me to walk with the tape so he gave me a boot and he told me to come see him tomorrow morning before practice.

I have done some research on symptoms for both and they all sound very similar. so how can you differentiate a sprained ankle and tendinitis?

Hello everybody. I have a playoff game in a few days with my soccer team. However, I am just recently recovering from a hurt ankle (ankle sprain I believe)..its been getting much better lately and is on its way to healing. How can I protect myself from further injury in the game? Like should I keep tape on my ankle as I have been (and I plan on buying some elastic bandages soon, definitely before the game)? I’ll try to be careful. But what else should I do to keep myself safe? Thanks.
Thanks guys . I’ll be sure to look up the wobble board idea and try to get an ankle brace and such. Thanks
I mean ankle sleeve.

This is a little complicated, but here goes:
I’m 18 and I was born with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, for which I’ve had three surgeries. I’m doing very well and I can walk normally, etc. but I’ve had some issues since my last surgery. I had a calcaneus osteotomy and a calcaneal cuboid joint fusion. In simple English, I had excess bone removed from the outside of my left foot (because I was walking a little bit on the side of my foot.)
Anyway, my left side has always been my difficult side when it came to these operations, and I’ve always had some ankle trouble. My ankle would always get slightly swollen after taking walks or anything like that, but it’s become worse of late. It’s gotten to the point that I can hardly walk on my foot without being in excruciating pain. I went to my doctor back in September and had x-rays done, but my fusion is intact and my bone structure looks good. Suspecting that I had ligament damage and pretty much a chronic ankle sprain, he told me to wear an aircast for 6 weeks to see if that helped my ankle at all. It did for a while, but the brace began to stretch out after a while and became less effective. I just went back to my doctor on Friday, and he told me to make an appointment with the local "brace shop" as they call it and have a 3/8" insert placed on the outside of my shoe to prevent my ankle from rolling over. I have an appointment with them tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone had any solutions until then. It will take them several days to get the insert completed, and I can’t live with this pain much longer (especially since I’m in college and I have to do a LOT of walking.)

Finally, I should also note that I do stretch and strengthen my ankle on a daily basis and I have been since I was 2. Any other pain reducing techniques would be greatly appreciated. (And no, typical pain relievers aren’t effective.)

Thanks so much!
