What did I do to my ankle?
I was in a softball game and I was going back to tag on a fly at third base but I dove because it was a close play, and when I dove my anke landed half on and half off the base. I had to come out of the game, for the rest of that inning. I went back out to play first base though because I was the onely first baseman. I felt like somthing was ripped in it. I put some ice on it after we were done in the field, and went home after the game. I really hurt to walk, and when I got up in the morning it really hurt and I could not walk so i iced it and and kept it up on some pillows. It is now like 3 weeks later and some days it really hurts and some days it feals fine. It usually hurts when I flaten it out (like pointing your toes) and when I circle it. Sometimes though it hurts like after I am done walking around but not during the walk. It is kind of brused and swollen but not much. I have a compression brace that helps with some of the pain. The pain if near the joint on the outside of my foot and goes sometimes to the other side. Can you tell me what I may have done to it?

Sounds like a severe sprain. You most likely tore some ligaments, maybe damaged tendons too.
You should have it looked at, get an x-ray. Physio would help you get some proper exercises for it.
It can take 6-8 weeks to heal it properly.

You should go to a doctor and ask him what you may have done to it. Left untreated you could end up with a permanent issue there

I suggest you go to sports medicine and get it looked at. you could have torn a ligament. depending on the injury, the doc might have use it more or not at all…and this could make all the difference in healing.

you probably stretched your veins a little, the description of what happened to me is kinda like yours but mine was in football and it was my wrist, it was hurting for about a month so my mom took me to the hospital (lol) and the doctors said i could have stretched my veins to the point where they were about to break… so that probably what happened to you.

I’m no doctor but i had a similar experience playing basketball. What happened to my ankle was it was not broken, but i tore the ligaments in my foot. Does the swelling occur on the outside of the foot, because that was the case with me.
Anyways my ankle took 3 weeks to heal until i could walk around without a walking stick, and about 2 months before it felt like normal again. Maybe that’s whats happened to you. Speedy recovery.

Sounds like a severe sprain or a torn ligament. The treatment you’ve given it (using a compression brace, ice and elevation) is the correct thing to do..I would give it a little more time and if the pain continues, it may just be time for a doctor and to have a diagnostic test to see if, in fact, it is a torn ligament. Most injuries like that however don’t require surgery…
