What is the best type of ankle brace for pointe dancing?

Ankle Support
I have very weak ankles, and they have been sprained and rolled a lot. I dance pointe and it is my favorite kind of dance, but i have to wear these really bulky, black braces that make it hard for me to dance well. I need something with a lot of support but without a lot of fabric in the way. Help!

See a sport’s medicine specialist. Whoever gave you those braces was obviously not aware of what you do in your day to day life…
People with ankles weak enough to be needing a brace just to dance en pointe shouldn’t be en pointe at all. When you see a sport’s specialist, ask them if they think physical therapy would be a good option for you. A physical therapist can help strengthen the muscles in your ankles and help you align your body correctly to minimize the risk of re injury and rolling. Just make sure you get one that knows how to work with dancers.

I would say that you should stop dancing on pointe, but you seem to have a great passion for it. You can use a wrap and butterfly clips, not brace, for better support. It also allows more movement. You can also do things such as demis and releves to strengthen your ankles.
