Which is better, a soft knee brace or a hinged one?

Knee Braces
My right knee tends to "grind" when I walk sometimes. A doc told me to use a knee brace for the time being but didn’t specifiy what kind. I was also told that if the grinding persists or gets worse over the next month, then I would be scheduled for an MRI and other tests.

you only use a hinged brace when your knee gives out other wise you just use a soft brace

Which ever feels comfortable for you. The MRI will probably show a torn or worn down ligament that will have to be taken care of surgically, microscopic surgery that is. Until then wear a brace if it helps and start applying some moist heat to the knee. Take a towel, soak it with hot water, ring it out, then wrap it around the knee. Do this several times with the hot towel at least two times a day. Wish for you the very best sir and hope all goes well with your knee.
