Will this cause me problems if I try to join the Air Force?
I have a foot problem that only happens maybe once every 1-2 months. I had played soccer for numerous years which is where I think my problem may have began. My ankle became a big problem after I went on a 10 mile hiking trip about 7 years ago and my ankle got messed up from all the jumping off rocks.Well now I have a problem running on the treadmill even if it is for 5 minutes. I even wear an ankle brace and it does not prevent my ankle from giving out. I will be running then BOOM. I get a sharp pain in my ankle and have to just jump off the treadmill and lay down. This has caused me to fall before because the pain is so bad. It is weird because it will be fine 30 seconds later. I went to the doc and he had no idea what was wrong. Do you have any idea what it could be?
The doc said my ankle was fine after he took an x-ray but I know there is something wrong. I am going to get an MRI though because my dad was told the same thing and about 5 months later they said he needed surgery.

I believe it might since its difficult for doctors to know whats wrong even if the x-ray shows up okay. Definitely get the MRI done, you never know what the underlying problem is.
You’ll probably be having a problem with basic in the AF, there is alot of running involved and starting October, basic is going to be 8.5 weeks long. Not to mention annual PT tests.
Your best bet is to see if you need surgery then apply for the AF since you HAVE to list medical problems before you join and if you lie = court martial.
Good luck, hope everything goes well.

youll never make it through basic if this is an ongoing problem. This condition would not allow you to be in military unfortunately. If it is caught at time of physical youll be sent home. Try to get it fixed now and then apply for military.

Depending on your age, I would recommend waiting until you can get the problem taken care of. Once the doctors know what it is, you can ask either a recruiter or the Medical Officer at MEPS about it. It may be something that is waiverable.
Best of luck

It sounds like some sort of joint instability which will interfere with your ability to jump, run and march. So, that being the case, it is disqualifying for entry.
The source below is the medical standard.
